Environment

Platespin PortabilitySuite, Migrate

Situation

The following article will outline the required procedures for creating a PlateSpin Flexible Image from a Raw Volume data which was created from Ghost Image Extraction.

Note: Source workload must be discovered prior to importing data from a 3rd party image into Platespin image. This is not supported for Domain Controllers.

Resolution

  1. Extract the Ghost image to a folder on the PowerConvert server (Note - this article will use F:\image\ as an example for a Ghost output folder).
  2. Ensure that the F:\image folder contains the proper system files and folder (.e.g. winnt or windows folder, boot.ini, etc.).
  3. Upon completion of the above steps use the restore directory (F:\image\) as a Mapping path for the source's C drive during the PlateSpin Flexible Image creation (Image Job Configuration Windows | Volumes).
  4. If there are multiple Ghost images for multiple drives (.e.g. E, D, F, etc.) please repeat step 1 and select a different folder for each drive image extraction (for example, F:\image_D_drive\) and map the appropriate folder to the correct drive of the source (Image Job Configuration Windows | Volumes).
