Situation

The following article describes the basic requirements for creating PlateSpin Flexible Image using Raw Volume Data (System restore, Ghost Image Extraction, etc.) and 3rd party (Acronis TrueImage and Symantec Live-State).

Note: Source workload must be discovered prior to importing data from a 3rd party image into Platespin image. This is not supported for Domain Controllers.

Resolution

1. In order to create a PlateSpin Flexible Image from Acronis Image the following conditions must be met:

 - Acronis TrueImage Server software must be installed on the PlateSpin Image Server.

 - The images must reside locally on the PlateSpin Image Server hard drive (e.g. C:\ or D:\, etc.) as UNC paths and network mapped drive will not work.  If a non local path is used (or incorrectly typed path is entered), the conversion job will likely fail with an error stating that the Image file does not exist.

2. In order to create a PlateSpin Flexible Image from Symantec Live-State Image the following conditions must be met:

 - Symantec Live-State Server software must be installed on the PlateSpin Image Server.
