Details

This error will generally occur if there is not enough hard drive space on the target virtual host.  At least 200 MB of free hard disk space is required in the /tmp and /usr/lib directories on the target VMware ESX server or on the hard drive of the VMware GSX Server/Microsoft Virtual Server.

This error may also appear if there is a connectivity issue between the PowerConvert Server and the target virtual host.  To test the HTTP connectivity, you will need to do the following:

For VMware ESX Servers:

  1. Connect to your VMware ESX Server using an SSH client such as Putty
  2. Once logged in as root, launch Lynx by using the following command:

lynx http://www.platespin.com       (or any other website)

  3. If you are prompted to allow a cookie, type "Y" to answer "Yes"
  4. Once the webpage has loaded, press "G" to go to a new website
  5. Enter in the following URL:

In PowerConvert 5.0
http://<powerconvert server>/ofxweb/ControllerPackageDownload.aspx?id=a584ec94-7836-4748-920f-381ad071c9c1&version=1
-> where <powerconvert server> is the name or IP address of your PowerConvert Server

In PowerConvert 5.1
http://<powerconvert server>/ofxweb/ControllerPackageDownload.aspx?id=5D55335D-B21B-4ee8-83B9-76017646FC80&version=1
-> where <powerconvert server> is the name or IP address of your PowerConvert Server

  1. If prompted to allow a cookie, type "Y" again to answer "Yes" and then type "D" to commence the download.  You should now see the download in progress:

  2. If the download is not successful, then this indicates a definite connectivity issue as the ESX Server is not able to download the packages required.

For VMware GSX Server/Microsoft Virtual Server:

  1. Open the Internet Explorer Browser on the machine where VMware GSX Server/Microsoft Virtual Server resides
  2. In the Address bar, enter in the following URL:

    http://<powerconvert server>/ofxweb/ControllerPackageDownload.aspx?id=a584ec94-7836-4748-920f-381ad071c9c1&version=1
-> where <powerconvert server> is the name or IP address of your PowerConvert Server

  3. When prompted to Open or Save the file, choose "Save" and select a location of your choice
  4. If the download is not successful, then this indicates a definite connectivity issue as the VMware GSX Server or Microsoft Virtual Server is not able to download the packages required.
