Environment

NetIQ Aegis 2.3

Situation

NetIQ Aegis Namespace Provider Service hangs in a starting state during installation.

Resolution

There are two solutions to this issue:

  1. Change the user name or password that contains a special character outside of those permitted, and re-run the installer.
  2. When prompted for the credentials to be used for the Aegis service account and/or the Resource Management account, chose to use SQL authentication and provide the installer a valid SQL account which has been granted the appropriate rights to the databases.

Cause

During the installation process, the setup program requires the credentials for the Aegis service account and the Resource Management account. These accounts support alphanumeric characters and the following special characters in the account name or password:

Period (.)

Underscore (_)

Dash (-)

If either account name or password contain any other special characters, the installation process fails.
