Situation

DRA hangs on 'Selecting Server' when trying to connect using 32-bit consoles

DRA hangs on 'Initializing Browser session' when trying to connect using the Web Console

Resolution

One solution to resolve this issue is to change the following four values in the registry for the managed domain to a different domain controller other than the one with the FISMO role of the PDC Emulator using regedit under: OnePoint\Administration\Modules\Accounts\Domains.Dns\<domainname>:

DcBind
DcName
DcPreferred
Server

Once the values have been changed, restart the NetIQ Administration Service.

Cause

DRA is using as the Preferred Domain Controller the domain controller with the role of PDC Emulator for the managed domain, which itself is overtaxed.
