Analysis Center installer fails with Error : 1628 (NETIQKB73102)

Environment

NetIQ Analysis Center 2.7.5
Microsoft Windows 7
Microsoft Windows Server 2008

Situation

When attempting to install the NetIQ Analysis Center 2.7.5 Console on a Windows 7 or Server 2008 (x64) machine, the installer fails with a 1628 error.

Resolution

To correct this issue please follow the process listed below:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files
  2. Rename the folder titled InstallShield to InstallShield.old
  3. Run the Analysis Center installation package again.

Cause

This is caused by a faulty version of Windows Installer on the Windows 7 or Server 2008 machine.  The problem is not an issue with the NetIQ Analysis Center installation package.
