Environment

NetIQ AppManager 4.1.2 sp 2

Situation

How do I configure Native Authentication in AMPP 4.1.2 SP2

Resolution

First you must have AMPP 4.1.2 Service Pack 2 installed.  Next you must follow the instructions to install HotFix 1 for Service Pack 2

After this you must setup a security group within Active Directory. In this example we will use 'ampp users'.

Once this group has been populated you must tie it to an external role within AMPP.

  1. Click Administration > Security > New External Role
  2. Name and Describe the new Role.
  3. Match expression can be as follows:  .*ampp users*.

This format is also in the help guide if further clarification is needed. The periods are needed.

  4. Map it to an existing role based on security needs.
  5. Click Submit.

Next, Authentication must be enabled.

In the AMPP Console:

  1. Click Administration > Configuration.
  2. Choose External Authentication, and click Edit.
  3. Select Native Authentication with Database Authorization set to 'No'.
  4. Click Submit.

Test the new authentication method. You will need to use the username and password for your AD account that was added to the AMPP Users Active Directory group. The domain name is not needed and should not be used for the login.

Cause

A hotfix was release to change the authentication model for AMPP 4.1.2 to be a native method for Microsoft Active Directory
