Pre-install check for Control Center failing, stating ASP.net 2.0 is not installed. (NETIQKB73076)

Situation

The Control Center pre-install check for ASP.net is failing, stating that the component is not installed, however it shows in add / remove programs.

Resolution

To correct this issue, in Control Panel, launch Add or Remove Programs and complete the following steps:

  1. Locate and Select ASP .Net 2.0
  2. Select Repair

When the repair process has compeleted, re-attempt the Control Center pre-install check.  It should no longer fail on the .Net 2.0 Framework component.

Cause

Certain version of Microsoft Windows 2003 come pre-installed with .Net Framework 2.0.  If .Net Framework 1.1 is installed after-the-fact, it will overwrite some parts of .Net Framework 2.0.
