Security Manager 6.5.x

Central computer

Central computer upgrade is failing.

The failure occurs during the progress bar phase of the installation with no popup errors. However the install log contains the following error.

SMInstall_Message:One of the specified objects cannot be found (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80110809) SMInstall_Message:DAS COM+ application was hung, and could not be shutdown. Forcefully killing the COM+ host process now. InstallShield: Exception: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.Exception: Failed to kill DAS COM+ process. at NetIQ.SM.Install.CustomActions.Upgrade.ShutDownComPlus(Int32 hInstall)

To allow the install to complete the DAS component must be recreated.  To recreate the DAS component go to the install directory E.g. Program Files\NetIQ\Security Manger\One Point directory and run DASInstall.exe.  Afterwards to confirm the component was created go to Start\All Programs\Administrative Tools\Component Services\expand component services\Computers\My Computer\COM+ Applications.

Confirm the OnePointActiveOpsDas component is there. Afterwards try running the upgrade again.

The upgrade fails because the OnePointActiveOpsDas component is missing.  The upgrade cannot kill the DAS component because it is not there.   Finding and stopping the OnePointActiveOpsDas component is a required process whenever upgrading a Central computer.
