Situation

Aegis database install ends prematurely when Alias is configured on SQL2008.

An error is presented during the Database installation that will state: "NetIQ Aegis Setup program ended prematurely"

Resolution

  1. In SQL Server Configuration Manager, expand SQL Native Client 10.0 Configuration (32bit) and select Aliases. 
  2. Ensure that the Alias Name and Server name are correct.
  3. In SQL Server Configuration Manager, expand SQL Native Client 10.0 Configuration and select Aliases.
  4. Ensure that the Alias Name and Server name are correct, and are identical to the entries in the 32bit configuration.
  5. Run the NetIQ Aegis Database installation again.

Cause

It has been verified that on x64 systems if both 32-bit and 64-bit clients are installed, NetIQ Aegis requires that you create the same alias for both 32-bit and 64-bit clients.
