How do I update the ADAM / ADLS schema for DRA 8.6 SP1?


To run the Update Adam Utility:

  1. Logon to the Windows Console of the DRA Server containing the ADAM / ADLS instance to be updated, as the DRA Service Account. ** Note: Always start with the Primary DRA Server first. **
  2. Launch a Command Prompt Window
  3. Run the following Command: <Full Path to the DRA Program Files Install Folder>\UpdateAdam.exe
  4. Re-Start the DRA Administration Service
  5. Repeat the same steps on Each DRA Server
  6. Complete a Full MMS Sync from the Primary DRA Server to all secondary DRA Servers



Starting with DRA 8.6 SP1, additional configuration settings for DRA have been moved into ADAM / ADLS for storage. There are additional containers required in ADAM / ADLS to store this information. By default ADAM / ADLS will be extended during the upgrade process. Also starting with DRA 8.6 SP1, there is a standalone utility for updating / extending the Schema of ADAM / ADLS.

The Logfiles for the Update Adam utility will be located in the following path:

Windows 2008: C:\Users\<DRA Service Account>\AppData\Local\Temp\NetIQ\DRA\Logs\Install\UpdateAdam.nq1

Windows 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\<DRA Service Account>\Application Data\Local Settings\Temp\NetIQ\DRA\Logs\Install\UpdateAdam.nq1

This utility only needs to be run if the ADAM / ADLS Schema is NOT fully extended. To check the status of the Schema, please see KB: NETIQKB73017
