Situation

How can I manually force the collectors to run?

Resolution

Currently DRA does not have a manual "start now" feature for the Reporting Services collectors within DRA. The ability does exist, however to set the collectors to run in the short term immediate future, versus the currently scheduled time. The steps below will need to be done while logged in as a DRA Assistant Admin with DRA Administration Rights

  1. Open the DRA Delegation and Configuration console
  2. Connect to the Primary DRA Server
  3. Right Click on Configuration Management
  4. Update Reporting Service Configuration
  5. Click on the Collector type to update
  6. For the AD Collector Highlight the Domain to update ; For the DRA Collector Highlight the DRA Server
  7. Click Configure
  8. Within the General Page of the Configuration, click the Change button near the Schedule
  9. Set the time to be 3 - 5 mins in the future from the current time of the DRA Server ** Note: If the Collector is set to run on the Secondary DRA server allow for extra time to perform an MMS Sync after setting the time. **
  10. Click OK
  11. Click Finish

As long as the Collector job is not currently running, the job will start at the scheduled time in the future. Once the collector has run, you can go set the time back to the previously scheduled time.

Cause

There are times when the customer may need to start a DRA or AD collection in real time, instead of the currently schedualed time.

Additional Information

Formerly known as NETIQKB72917

If the DRA Server running the collectors is a secondary DRA Server, you will need to do a Full MMS Sync BEFORE that server will get the updated time to run the collector. There is no requirement to restart the services on the DRA Server(s) during the above process.

Every 15 mins each DRA server will run a job to query the collector(s) for a status update. That status update will then be written into ADAM and able to be viewed within the Reporting Services Configuration.
