SQL 2000 check for logins with blank passwords is reporting incorrectly (NETIQKB72901)

Situation

SQL 2000 check for logins with blank passwords is reporting incorrectly. If you run the logins with blank password check, it will show sa is blank when it is not blank.

Resolution

A corrected check is now available through Autosync.  Run Autosync and download and apply Security Checks for Active Directory, SQL Server, and Windows (May 2011)

Cause

The check was not returning a data row containing the sa account when the password was blank.
