Environment

NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager/5.8 - SCMgr

Situation

A newly installed console will not launch. The error message is The component: Netiq.VM.Communication.CommunicationSnapin is not initialized properly

Resolution

1. Uninstall the SCM console.

2. Uninstall .Net Framework 2.0 and reboot the system. 

3. Reinstall .Net Framework 2.0 

4. Reinstall the SCM console.

Cause

.Net Framework components were not properly installed.
