Environment

NetIQ AppManager 6.x
NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x

Situation

What are the conditions that creates a second mapque file (.dat )?
When I migrate an agent from one QDB to another QDB a second mapque (.dat) file is created and causing the agent to display in both QDBs.

Resolution

Since the steps above does not remove the mapque file our recommendation to resolve this issue is by performing one of the following steps.

1. Uninstall then reinstall the agent.

2. "Overwrite" the agent using the Control Center

Both of the options above will ensure the file is removed and no remnants of the old Management Servers or QDB is left on the agent.

Cause

This occurs when moving agents from one QDB to another and doing so by the following process.

1. Stop all jobs on agent
2. Delete agent object from QDB1
3. Add agent to new QDB2
4. Run Discovery_NT

When performing the steps above the agent then re-appears on QDB1 (old QDB) due to the mapque file on the agent not being updated or removed.

MapQue File Location:
C:\Program Files\NetIQ\AppManager\dat\mapque\QDBserver.InstanceNameXXXX_XXXX.dat
