Environment

NetIQ Aegis 2.1
NetIQ Aegis 2.2
Remedy Adapter for NetIQ Aegis 1.0

Situation

How do I install the Remedy Adapter for NetIQ Aegis on Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 SP1?
The Remedy Adapater installation fails the pre-req check on Windows 2008 and 2008 SP1
When installing Aegis BMC Remedy adapter a server that has Windows 2008 32bit SP1 the installer can?t find the Aegis Namespace service.

Resolution

The Aegis Remedy Adapter makes a check for a specific key to pre-exist on the OS, before allowing the Adapter to be installed.  This key is not created by NetIQ Aegis when installed on Windows 2008 or Windows 2008 SP1.  As a result, the Remedy Adapter installation fails the pre-req check.

The registry key is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SYSTEM | CurrentControlSet | Enum | Root | LEGACY_AEGISNAMESPACEPROVIDER

This issue can be resolved by following these steps:

  1. Open the windows services snap-in (services.msc).
  2. Locate the NetIQ Aegis Namespace Provider service.
  3. Open the properties of the NetIQ Aegis Namespace Provider service and this will create the required key.
  4. Close the properties and retry the Remedy Adapter installation.
