NetIQ Analysis Center 2.7.5

Situation

How do I create bulk custom report templates in NetIQ Analysis Center

Resolution

Below is a description of the key tags in the report XML that can be modified in order to uniquely identify them from from the original 'master' set of reports.

-The REPORTBYNAMESET ID="<REPORT_GUID>" tags can be left empty when importing the report template XML.  They will be generated as they are imported.

-The Folder="$REPORTS\<FOLDER_NAME_PATH>\" tag needs to have the path changed to reflect where you would like the report.

-The Title="<REPORT_NAME>" tag for the report name needs to be changed to be a unique name or it will replace the existing report of the same name.

-Use 'Find & Replace' functions of the editor you are using to make sweeping changes for the referenced XML tags described

After you have completed & saved your changes to the report set XML use XMLCheckIn.exe to check the file in to the AC_Configuration database. XMLCheckIn.exe is located in \Analysis Center\bin of the server hosting the AC_Warehouse SQL database.
Use the following syntax to check in the updated report file:
xmlcheckin <path to file>\<file name>

For more information on report management or using the XMLCheckIn.exe utility please refer to the documentation found in the User Guide for Analysis Center.

Cause

After creating a set of template reports in Analysis Center it may be desireable to create addtional sets for use in different reporting scenarios or in other Analysis Center installations.  The "master" set of reports can be exported from Report Management in the Analysis Center console & saved as an XML file.  The file may then be modified in any text editor using 'find & replace' features to make changes to the report names & folder hierarchy in the XML tags to suit your needs.   For more information on exporting or importing reports please refer to the documentation found in the User Guide for Analysis Center.
