Environment

NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager 5.8

NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager 5.8.1

Situation

When removing the Windows agent that has been installed with the .MSI it leaves behind an entry in the Add/Remove programs window.
You must follow a special procedure to uninstall this service pack on a 64-bit computer if you used the securityagentforwindows.msi file to upgrade the agent.

Resolution

To properly uninstall the NetIQ Security Agent for Windows uninstall the patched version (IE 5.8.1) with the .msi and then execute the uninstall of the base version (IE 5.8).

                                      Run the uninstall on 5.8.1

Uninstall using ?SecurityAgentForWindows.msi? from the SP1.

msiexec /uninstall <SCM 5.8SP1 Folder>\SecurityAgentForWindows.msi

Then run the following uninstall on the base version 5.8

        Uninstall using ?SecurityAgentForWindows.msi? from 5.8.

      msiexec /uninstall <SCM 5.8 Folder>\SecurityAgentForWindows.msi

Cause

This issue applies to computers where you used an .msi file to install the previous agent version. This issue does not apply to computers running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, or Web Server operating systems.  The uninstall of the version of the Windows Agent does not remove both the version selected and any hotfixes that exist in Add/Remove.
