Environment

NetIQ UNIX Agent 7.1

AppManager 7.0.1

Situation

nqmdiscovery -b sits indefinitely on the 7.1 UNIX Agent during MS communication / discovery

Resolution

Engineering is developing a solution for the infinite timeout in the nqmdiscovery binary.

For the moment, to fix this issue you can apply Hotfix 72041 onto your AppManager management servers which removes the scenario which causes the lockup of the nqmdiscovery binary in the first place.

Cause

The nqmdiscovery binary will sometimes lock-up indefinitely when communicating to an unpatched MS.  This is due to an incorrect reponse from the MS to the UNIX agent.  This 'lockup' can occur during the deployment, or UNIX agent communication through the UNIX Agent manager.

Additional Information

Formerly known as NETIQKB72397

Improved timout ability will be added to the nqmdiscovery binary in a future hotfix / release.
