Situation
Can the SQL database for DRA reporting be moved to a different SQL machine?
Resolution
How to move the DRA Reporting & NetIQ Reporting Center Confiugration Databases to a new Server:
Disable DRA Reporting Services
1. Open the Delegation and Configuration DRA Console as the AD Account running the NetIQ Administration Service
2. Connect to the Primary DRA Server
3. Open DRA Reporting Services Configuration
4. Disable all of DRA Reporting
5. Save the changes
Backup existing data
1. Connect to SQL Server with SQL Management Studio, as the SQL Server AD Access account configured in DRA Reporting Services Configuration
2. Back up the existing DRA Reporting, ACF Configuration, SM CubeDepot Databases
SQL Configuration for DRA Reporting & NetIQ Reporting Center
1. Logon to the Target SQL Server OS as the SQL Server AD Access account configured in DRA Reporting Services Configuration
2. Run the NetIQ Reporting Center Setup, located in the DRA 8.6 SP2 setup files
3. Install the Reporting Server Configuration Database & Reporting Server Data Extensions ONLY
4. Once complete, the NRC Setup will launch the DRA Reporting.MSI
5. Install the DRA Reporting
Verify SQL Configuration Post Install
1. After both installs are done the following DBs will exist:
a. ACF Configuration, SMCubeDepot, DRA Reporting
b. After both installs are done verify the following SQL SSIS Jobs are created, and enabled
c. NetIQ Data Pump & NetIQ Data Aggregations
Restore existing data into the new SQL Server
1. Use SQL Management studio to restore the previously backed up Databases on top of the newly created databases.
Once the above SQL DBs & SSIS jobs are created proceed with DRA Configuration.
1. Open the Delegation and Configuration DRA Console as the AD Account running the NetIQ Administration Service
2. Connect to the Primary DRA Server
3. Open DRA Reporting Services Configuration
4. Configure DRA Reporting SQL Server with the new SQL Server name & instance
5. Configure the DRA Collector & AD Collector to run at a specific schedule
6. Configure the DRA Management Reports collector to run at a specific schedule
7. Once the Collectors have completed, new data will be in the NRC.
8. Open the SM Log Archive Configuration utility on the Primary DRA Server
9. Update the Reporting Server to the name of the new SQL Server
Configure the NetIQ Reporting Center
1. Open the NetIQ Reporting Center Console
2. Expand Reporting Center Home
3. Expand Database Connections
4. Expand DRA Reporting
5. Right Click on DRA Reporting DataSource
a. Choose Properties
6. Update the Server Name to the new Server & Instance.
