Environment

WebSphere 6.1
NetIQ UNIX Agent 7.1

Situation

* Support for Non-Default WebSphere Profiles ? AppManager for IBM WebSphere Application Server now allows you to use one customized WebSphere profile instead of requiring the default WebSphere profile. This Hotfix does not support multiple customized profiles. If you want to specify a customized profile, you must also update the WebSphereAppSrvUNIX discovery Knowledge Script, specify the full path to the Java Runtime Engine (JRE), and provide the path to the custom profile. For more information about updating the Knowledge Script and providing the information, see Installing This Hotfix. (ENG284309)

* Additional Session Manager Folder Object Type ? WebSphere Application Server version 6.0 introduced Servlet Session Manager objects. After you follow the installation instructions in this Hotfix, AppManager for WebSphere Application Server includes the object type Session Manager Folder containing Servlet Session Manager objects. • Verify successful installation in the results window.
  • If you want to use a custom profile, perform the steps to configure the WebSphereAppSrv Discovery Knowledge Script to use a customized profile.

To install the UNIX agent patch manually:

  1. Extract the file p71p10.zip.
  2. Copy the p71p10.tar file for your operating system and the /unix/data/updates/P71P10/wcPatch file to the PSHOME/netiq/bin directory on the computer where you want to apply the Hotfix. You can find the value for PSHOME in the /etc/vsaunix.cfg file on the target computer.
  3. Login to the computer where you want to apply the Hotfix.
  4. Run the su command to switch to the root user account.
  5. Change to the PSHOME/netiq/bin directory.
  6. Run the command ./wcPatch APPLY p71p10.tar 7.1.0.10 /tmp. You can use an alternate directory for temporary files by replacing /tmp with the directory you want to use.
  7. If you want to use a custom profile, perform the steps to configure the WebSphereAppSrv Discovery Knowledge Script to use a customized profile.

To configure the WebSphereAppSrv Discovery Knowledge Script to use a customized profile:

  1. In Control Center or Operator Console, check in the updated WebSphere Application Server Discovery Knowledge Script from /unix/ks_updates/Discovery_WebSphereAppSrvUNIX.qml in the directory where you installed UNIX Agent Manager or where you extracted the p71p10.zip file.
  2. In the Full path to the NetIQAgent JRE directory field on the Values tab of the WebSphereAppSrv Discovery Knowledge Script, provide the full path to the Java Runtime Engine (JRE) that the UNIX agent uses.
  3. In the Directories to search for WebSphere home directory field on the Values tab of the WebSphereAppSrv Discovery Knowledge Script, replace the WebSphere home directory with the directory where you have the customized profile.
  4. If your WebSphereAppSrv Discovery Knowledge Script is part of a Knowledge Script group, propagate the Knowledge Script changes to that group.
