Submitted jobs do not complete and remain in Pending state

NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager 5.8

Situation

Jobs hang in pending and never complete. No errors get registered in any of the logs. It appears in the core log that Core Services sends out the request but it never returns. In the agent log it appears that the agent never receives the request.

Resolution

A workaround for this version is to:

  1. Open the configuration utility and select the Heartbeat tab. 
  2. Change Automatic Heartbeat Polling to Disabled. 
  3. Click Apply and OK. 
  4. Restart Netiq Core Services service.

Cause

Automatic heartbeat is causing a problem and a code change is required to fix it.
