Situation

How do agents get their files, folders and registry monitoring functionality deployed in Change Guardian for Windows 2.0 SP1?

Resolution

As of Change Guardian for Windows 2.0 SP,1 there is a new Configuration Wizard available for selecting agents to deploy the file, folder, and registry monitoring functionality of Change Guardian for Windows. To get to this follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Configuration Wizard
  2. Click on Change Guardian on the left sidebar
  3. Click on "Select Computers to Monitor"
  4. Add computers in as necessary.

For manual agents, you will also need to install the Manual Agent msi which ships with Change Guardian for Windows 2.0 SP1 or higher.

Cause

You would like to configure Change Guardian for Windows filters and need to know where to go to configure the filters.

Formerly known as NETIQKB71936

The CGW msi for manual agents will simply put the CGW cab file into the incoming providers folder.  Next, the Security Manager service will restart which will cause the cab file to load the CGW provider. 

However for this to work properly, the agent must first be added to the CGW group by following the above steps.
