How do you check the data retention / grooming period for archival data?

In order to check to see what the data retention period is for the archival server, follow these steps:

1. Log onto the Log Archive Server
2. Click on Start/All Programs/NetIQ Security Manager/Configuration/Log Archive Configuration Utility
3. Once the Log Archive Configuration Utility is launched, click on the Log Archive Server Settings on the left hand side
4. There is a setting called "Number of Days before Grooming". This is the retention period.

Note: This setting will take affect if the partitions have been backed up. If the archive bit is not set, the partition will not be groomed.
