Situation

Monitored ESX system reports it cannot reach the SM/SCM/AM servers even through the servers are listening.

Resolution

Run the following ESX commands to open the needed UNIX port numbers:

esxcfg-firewall --AllowOutgoing
esxcfg-firewall --openPort 1622,tcp,in,NqLM
esxcfg-firewall --openPort 2620,tcp,in,NqUAM

Cause

ESX blocks all outbound and inbound communication by default.
