Access Denied error is received when attempting to deploy a package to an Agent using Deployment Services (NETIQKB71001)

Environment

NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x
NetIQ AppManager Control Center 7.0.x

Situation

Control Center Deployment Reports generates an 'Access Denied' error when deploying package.
Deploying a package to an Agent using Deployment Services results in an 'Access Denied' error message

Resolution

In order to resolve the Access Denied error message perform the following steps:

 

Verify that the Remote Registry Service is running.  Verify that you are able to access the registry of the agent machine remote by performing the steps below from the deployment services machine:

  1. Start | Run | Regedit
  2. Select Connect to Network Registry from the File menu

Verify Admin share is available: 

  1. Browse to the ADMIN$ Share

Verify that the Admin Share is enabled.  To verify launch the Registry Editor on the target machine

  •  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\AutoShareServer =1

Verify WMI Call: 

Steps:

  1. Click Browse for namespace.
  2. In machine name choose \\targetcomputer
  3. Choose Connect
  4. Uncheck Login as current user, change Credentials to deployment credentials defined in rule.
  5. Choose Ok.
  6. If root appears then a successful wmi call has been made.
  7. If access is denied verify security for wmi:

Computer management>services and applications>wmi control>properties>security - Click the Security button

Verify the deployment credentials account is defined.

 

If access still is denied, verify distribute com is enabled and running:

Component services>my computer>properties>default properties - Enable Distributed Com
