Environment

Directory and Resource Administrator 8.x

Situation

Last logon statistics shows as "Unavailable" despite being enabled.

Last logon statistics shows as "Unavailable" in Windows Server 2008 environments.

Last logon field shows "Unavailable".

Resolution

The DRA Agent still facilitates Last Logon Statistic gathering for DRA 8.x servers.  Similar to configuring DCOM on Windows 2003 SP1 and later domain controllers, DCOM needs to be configured on all "writable" Windows Server 2008 domain controllers.  Failure to configure DCOM correctly on Windows Server 2008 domain controllers will result in Last Logon statistics being unavailable.

Cause

The DCOM component for the DRA Agent on Windows Server 2008 domain controllers does not have sufficient previleges to retrieve last logon statistics.

DCOM is not enabled or configured correctly on Windows Server 2008 domain controllers in the managed domain.

Additional Information

Formerly known as NETIQKB70961

For more information on configuring DCOM for DRA 8.x, please refer to the Administration Installation Guide - "Configuring DCOM Settings". As of DRA 8.6 SP1, there is no longer a need for the DRA Agent. DRA now uses a different method to collect the Last Logon Statistics.
