Environment

Fact: GPA 5.0

Situation

Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. Action NQExecuteConsoleDBScripts, location: C:\DOCUME~1\alui\nipped...}\WiseSql\, command: cmd /C InstallConsoleDB.bat "-n -E -S . -i

The following error appears in the NetIQGPARepositoryDB.log file.

Cannot create file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA\GPO_REPOSITORY.mdf' because it already exists.
Unable to install the GPA Repository.
Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.

Resolution

1. Delete GPO_REPOSITORY_log.LDF and GPO_REPOSITORY.mdf from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA.

2. Remove the SQL 7 client or the SQL 2005 backwards compatibility module, reboot the machine, and try the install again.

Cause

There are 2 possible causes for this:

1. The actual physical database files still exist from a previous install even though they may not appear in Enterprise Manager.

2. Either the SQL 7 client, or the SQL 2005 backwards compatibility module has been installed on this machine.

Additional Information

Formerly known as NETIQKB70533

The SQL 2005 backwards compatibility module may have been installed along with SQL 2005 SP2. If you are running SQL 2005 SP2 you will also need to put a registry hack in place in order to bybass the prereq checker to install GPA 5.0.
