"Failed to CoCreate Instance" when running the NetIQCtrl command (NETIQKB70524)

Situation

"Failed to CoCreate Instance" when running the NetIQCtrl command

NetIQCtrl command

Unable to get a status using the NetIQCtrl command getting error "Failed to CoCreate Instance"

Resolution

Perform the following steps:

On either the Management server or the Agent server:

  • Open a command prompt and change directory to %SystemRoot%\Program Files\NetIQ\Bin
  • Run the command line RegSvr32 nqctrlcom.dll
  • Retry running NetIQCtrl

Cause

This can be caused when some of the AppManager components are missing and the NQCtrlcom.dll does not get registered from the %SystemRoot%\Program Files\NetIQ\Bin directory
