Resolution

Who Should Install this Module Version?

The Oracle (Unix) module version 7.8.17 is recommended for all users running AppManager version 7.0 and AppManager UNIX agent versions 6.5 and 7.0 to monitor Oracle.

Why Install this module upgrade?

Release 7.8.17 of AppManager for Oracle UNIX now works with the NetIQ UNIX agent. The NetIQ UNIX agent allows you to secure and manage your UNIX and Linux systems from a central point of control. The UNIX agent also works with NetIQ Security Manager and NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager.

The NetIQ UNIX agent provides additional features to the AppManager for Oracle UNIX module. Some key features are:

UNIX Agent Manager console to install, configure, and manage UNIX agents across your enterprise
Remote deployment for UNIX agents and modules
Management of UNIX resource access from one console

For more information about the NetIQ UNIX agent, see the NetIQ UNIX Agent Configuration Guide in the AppManager UNIX installation package.

Installing the Module Upgrade

Install this module on all repository computers to install Knowledge Scripts, and on all console computers to install the Help. You do not need to install this module on the monitoring computers. If you have an existing AppManager agent, you can continue to use the existing managed object along with the updated knowledge scripts. You do not need to upgrade to the 7.1 agent to use the knowledge scripts in this package. If you are upgrading to the NetIQ UNIX Agent 7.1, the agent includes all files required on the monitored computer.

If you upgrade to the new agent, ensure you run the discovery knowledge script after upgrading to ensure AppManager recognizes the new agent location.

For more information about installing this module, see the AppManager for Oracle RDBMS on UNIX and Linux UNIX Management Guide, included in the download package.
