Environment

AppManager 6.0.2
AppManager for Unix 6.0.2
Java Runtime Environment

Situation

* A job scheduled to run at 7am EST5EDT runs one hour off
* The UNIX agent log entries are 1 hour off

Resolution

This hotfix replaces the Java Runtime Engine (JRE) version 1.4 within the UNIX agent.  This hotfix is recommended for all users running AppManager version 6.0.2 and using AppManager UNIX agent 6.0.2.

If you do not wish to apply a new JRE to your UNIX agent via this hotfix, another option is to upgrade to AppManager for UNIX v6.5 or higher.  These versions do not use Java and do not suffer from this problem.

If for any reason you cannot update your Java platform to one of the update releases listed above, a tool has been provided to modify the time zone data within your existing JDK or JRE software. The TZupdater tool supports JDK/JRE versions 1.4 or later.

The TZupdater tool supports JDK/JRE version 1.4.0 and later releases (1.4.0, 1.4.1,1.4.2, 5.0, and 6), all updates of those releases, and on all supported platforms.The java.vendor property value must be "Sun Microsystems Inc".

The URL to the Java updater is here: http://java.sun.com/javase/tzupdater_README.html

Cause

Time zone data that adheres to the new DST rules was introduced in the following update releases of the Java platform:

    * 1.3.1_18
    * 1.4.2_13
    * 5.0_u9
    * 6
