How do I use the DraAvPerf.exe Utility?

What can the DraAvPerf.exe Utility be used for?

What is the correct syntax to run the DraAvPerf.exe Utility?

Fact

Directory and Resource Administrator 6.x
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.x
Directory and Resource Administrator 8.x

Fix

The DraAvPerf.exe Utility can be used to measure performance of how Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) enumerates objects per ActiveView.  This utility can provide excellent information on how many milliseconds elapses per enumeration by DRA for each ActiveView in your delegation model.

The utility needs to be placed in the c:\Program Files\NetIQ\DRA directory on a DRA server.  To run the utility:

  1. Log on to the DRA server with an account that has, at minimum, DRA Administrator permissions.
  2. Open a command prompt.
  3. Change to the directory where DRA was installed.  By default, this is: c:\Program Files\NetIQ\DRA.
  4. Type the following command where <DRASERVER> is the name of the DRA server being used:

    • DraAvPerf <DRASERVER> [-firstcall] [-checkopt]

The utility will create DRAAVperf.nq1 logs at C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp.  The logs can be viewed using the LogViewer.exe utility also located at c:\Program Files\NetIQ\DRA.
