Situation

OLAP Processing job fails on step 4 with Microsoft SQL Analysis Services reporting error

Error: 'More than the maximum of 64,000 dimension member children for a single parent (dimension 'Metric'S', level 'Description3', member

Resolution

This was an issue with SQL Server 2000 and has been corrected in SQL Server 2005.  NetIQ Analysis Center greater than 2.6 requires SQL Server 2005, so this is no longer an issue.

 

Cause

Microsoft SQL Analysis Services has a 64,000 member limitation within its individual structure.  In this instance, Citrix MFXP generates a unique identifier for each connection made.  Thus, the listed KS creates a new unique entry for each connection made and stores that connection as a data point.
