Environment

Directory and Resource Administrator 6.x
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.x
Directory and Resource Administrator 8.x

Situation

Can I install Directory and Resource Administrator on a Virtual Machine (VM) session?

Are there any known issues with running Directory and Resource Administrator on a VM session?

Is DRA supported being installed on a VM?

Does DRA support VMWare?
Do I need to run Directory and Resource Administrator on its own server?

Resolution

Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) can be installed successfully on a Windows Virtual Machine (VM) session. While running DRA over a VM session has not been fully regression-tested, there are no known issues with running it on this configuration aside from slight performance issues inherent of Virtual Machines. Also as the nubmer of the manged objects grows, the overhead used for processing by DRA also increases. Because of this, it is recommended that DRA be installed on a physical server.
