Environment

Directory & Resource Administrator 8.1x
Directory & Resource Administrator 8.5x
Directory & Resource Administrator 8.6x

Situation

New shared printers with the default selection List in the Directory do not appear in DRA as Published Printers until a Full Accounts Cache refresh is performed.

If a Published Printer is moved with native tools from an OU back to the computer (as a container) that is hosting the shared printer, this change will not appear in DRA until a Full Accounts Cache refresh is performed.

Newly Published Printers are not recognized by an Incremental Accounts Cache refresh unless they are, using native tools, moved to or created in an OU .

Resolution

Perform a Full Accounts Cache refresh for the domain.
The Published Printer will appear in DRA in the same OU in which the Computer account exists that is hosting the shared printer.

Or
Using Active Directory Users and Computers, under View, select "Users, Groups, and Computers as containers."
Locate the Computer Account for the computer from which the printer is shared.
The newly Published Printer will appear as an object under the Computer Account.
Select the Published Printer, and move it to the OU that the Computer is in (or any other OU that is appropriate).
Wait for the next Incremental Accounts Cache refresh for the domain to occur, or you may manually initiate an Incremental Accounts Cache refresh for the domain.
The Published Printer will appear in DRA in the OU that you moved it into.

Or
After installing the printer on the computer, share it using native tools and deselect the box "List in the Directory".  You may also share the printer from within DRA.  If you share the printer with DRA, it will not be Listed in the Directory.
Using Active Directory Users and Computers, create a new Published Printer in the appropriate OU.  In the properties of the new Published Printer, enter the correct UNC path for the newly shared printer.
Wait for the next Incremental Accounts Cache refresh for the domain to occur, or you may manually initiate an Incremental Accounts Cache refresh for the domain.
The Published Printer will appear in DRA in the OU that you created it in.

Cause

AD stores a published printer as a leaf object of a computer account. When DRA only is able to cache leaf objects during a Full Accounts Cache Refresh.

If a Published Printer is moved with native tools from an OU back to the computer (as a container) that is hosting the shared printer, this change will not appear in DRA until a Full Accounts Cache refresh is performed.
