cause

You need to back up the LogManagerTrend database if you plan on doing any of the following:

  • Reinstalling the central computer
  • Installing a new central computer and specifying it as the Trend Analysis server
  • Decommissioning an existing central computer that is currently the Trend Analysis server and transferring this function to another central computer
  • Transferring the Trend Analysis function to another central computer

fix

To back up the Trend Analysis database:

  1. Open the Monitor Console.
  2. In the left pane, expand Configuration > Global Settings.
  3. Double-click Log Manager and select the Trend Analysis Server tab.
  4. Select None and click Apply. Keep this window open.
  5. Open Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Manager on the current Trend Analysis server.
  6. In the left pane, expand AnalysisServers > Servername.
  7. Right-click LogManagerTrend and select Archive Database.
  8. In the Save In field, specify a network location where you want to archive the Trend Analysis database.
  9. Click Archive and then Close when finished.

If you want to change the Trend Analysis Server, you should back up and restore the database on the same day.

To restore the Trend Analysis database:

  1. In the Monitor Console, select the new central computer from the Trend Analysis server list and click OK. This initializes an empty LogManagerTrend database on the new server.
  2. Open Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Manager on the new Trend Analysis server.
  3. Expand Analysis Servers > Servername.
  4. Right-click Servername and select Restore Database.
  5. Browse to the network location where the backup was saved.
  6. Select the backup file and click Open.
  7. Answer Yes to the dialog asking if you want to overwrite the database.
  8. Click Restore and then Close when finished.
