Situation

Error installing Repository on SQL2005 SP1 or SP2.

Error: Unable to connect to SQL Server 2000 SP3 or SQL Server 2005. You may not have rights to connect and create database objects.
Can the GP Repository be installed on SQL Server 2005 SP1 and SP2?

Resolution

NetIQ Tech Support is not currently aware of any problems presented by installing the GPA 5.0 Repository on SQL 2005 SP1, however GPA has not been fully tested by QE on SP1. If you wish to proceed with installing the Repository on SQL 2005 SP1, you can bypass the prereq checker by creating the following registry key and setting it to a value of '1':

To pass the prerequisite checker, please follow the steps below:

·         Create a new DWORD registry entry under the following registry hive

o    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FullArmor\FAZAM 2000]

o    Right click select New DWORD Value

o    Name new value to OverridePrereqCheck

o    Double click on newly created OverridePrereqCheck and set the data value to Hexadecimal 1

New entry should look like this:

                   OverridePrereqCheck           REG_DWORD          0x00000001 (1)

Once you have created the new Registry Entry, perform the following:

  1. Run the GPA 5.0 Installer.
  2. In the Select Installation type view select Custom and click Next.
  3. In Select Features view select the components that you want to install and click Next.
    • This is the step where the PrereqChecker is launched
  4. Close the PrereqChecker and Press Yes in the abort installation dialog.
    • Then installation will continue from here

Cause

The GPA prerequisite checker is doing a hard value check for the version of SQL installed.  It is not aware of the SQL 2005 SP1 or SP2 versions.
