Directory and Resource Administrator 8.x
Unable to install DRA after a previous uninstall of DRA on the same machine.
New installation of DRA fails.
System Error: 1631 also appears in the Application Event Log.
Sometimes during uninstallation, not all registry keys created by a DRA install are successfully removed. To resolve this issue, after uninstalling DRA it is always recommended to browse the registry and make sure the following keys and subkeys are no longer present. If they are, they should be deleted before any attempt to reinstall DRA.
- HKLM\SOFTWARE\Mission Critical Software - if no other NetIQ products are installed on the machine, the entire Mission Critical Software key and subkeys can be deleted.
- HKLM\SOFTWARE\Mission Critical Software\OnePoint\Administration - if other NetIQ products are installed on the machine, then delete just the Administration key and subkeys
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products - search all GUIDs for any reference to DRA, FSA or ExA and if any are found delete the corresponding GUID.
Uninstall did not remove all of the required registry keys. Because some registry keys remain, DRA is not able to re-create them during a new installation.
A ticket has been opened with development to ensure DRA deletes ALL required registry keys during uninstall.
