I get an error when I try to create a new Exchange mailbox using Directory and Resource Administrator.

Error: 'DRA cannot establish an email address for this account. Verify that the access account has Exchange View Administrator permissions on the Exchange organization.'

symptom

Error when attempting to create a mailbox for a new user account on Exchange 2003 using DRA.

cause

The Directory and Resource Administrator service account does not have the required permissions on the Exchange server.

fix
Using Exchange System Manager, grant the Directory and Resource Administrator Service Account 'Exchange Full Administrator' permissions at the Organization level in Exchange 2003.
