Environment
NetIQ AppManager 6.x
NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x
Situation
'Access Denied' window appear when a particular user is trying to logon to the Operator Console.
Unable to login to the Operator Console although user is granted AppManager permissions through Security Manager & SQL Enterprise Manager.
Resolution
To be able to run the Operator Console a Windows user needs to have specific NTFS Permissions in the NetIQ folder. There is a Cache folder which stores the settings and objects stored in the QDB database to the local machine where the Operator Console is being run. This is done to improve performance and reduce network traffic. During the initial user logon to the Operator Console a database connection to the QDB database is made and information is written to the specific named user profile located under the "Cache" folder. If the user is unable to write data to this cache folder...the logon will fail. Ensure that the Windows user which is currently logged onto the machine has "Full Control" of the "Cache" folder.
Its located in the following directory: C:\Program Files\NetIQ\AppManager\bin\Cache
