Resolution

goal
What is the purpose of accounts specified in GPA wizards and what happens if their passwords are changed?

goal
When a new untrusted domain is added to the GPO Repository, you specify the credentials of a domain administrator in the untrusted domain (according to the GPA User Guide), including its password.  What happens if you change the password for this account after you complete the wizard to add the new untrusted domain?

goal
When you launch the "Add Untrusted Domain User..." wizard, you specify the credentials of a domain administrator (according to the GPA User Guide), including its password.  What happens if you change the password for this account after you complete the wizard to add the new untrusted user?

fact
NetIQ Group Policy Administrator 5.0

fix

A domain administrator account, provided when adding an untrusted domain or user, is used once and then discarded by Group Policy Administrator (GPA).  You can change the password on these accounts with no effect.

note

The following credentials are affected by password changes:

  • Export Override accounts
  • GPA Server security accounts
  • COM+ application accounts
