Netiqmc service starts and then stops immediately. (NETIQKB52992)

Client Resource Monitor fails to start properly.

For information about how to resolve the issues with the operating system applications, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 281679 http://support.microsoft.com/?id=281679.  This issue is not caused by a NetIQ product and impacts other applications on the Microsoft operating system.  As a result, you will need to contact Microsoft Technical Support for further assistance if the following steps do not aide you in correcting this issue.

To help narrow down what registry keys are causing the issue, use the following to capture the netiqmc service startup. Understand that these steps use a tool that is not supported by NetIQ Corporation.

1. Download the Process Monitor utility from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.
2. Install Process Monitor on the server.
3. Start Process Monitor.
4. Stop capturing by pressing Ctrl+E.
5. Clear the output by pressing Ctrl+X.
6. Begin capturing by pressing Ctrl+E, then as quickly as possible start the Managed Client and wait for it to stop. 
7. Stop capturing by pressing Ctrl+E.
8. Save the results to a log file.
9. Compare hits against the HKCR keys with the Process Monitor output from a clean startup of a similar agent.

These steps will help narrow down which registry keys are creating problems for the netiqmc service, but those may not be the only registry keys with the problems. For assistance with other registry keys, contact Microsoft Technical Support.
