Event ID:           1
Date:                mm/dd/yyyy

Description:

The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( NqLog - GPAServer.exe ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event:

NqLogContext::FindContext did not find an existing context for "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\NetIQ\GPA\Logs\Server\GPAServerLogs.nq1" or any alternates.

OSOpenFile failed for "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\NetIQ\GPA\Logs\Server\GPAServerLogs.nq1" because CreateFile returned error code 5.

NqLogContext::CreateContext failed to open the specified file name or any alternate names.

NqLogContext::FindOrCreateContext failed for specified file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\NetIQ\GPA\Logs\Server\GPAServerLogs.nq1"

cause

This is a known issue that occurs when the GPA Server service account does not have permissions to write to the GPA Server log file folder.  The GPA 5.0 documentation currently incorrectly states the GPA Security service account must be a member of the Domain Users group and requires no other Active Directory permissions. However, the GPA Server service account must have Domain Admin permissions in order to write to the GPA Server log file folder.

fix

Ensure the Group Policy Administrator (GPA) Server service account has Domain Admin permissions and the GPA Server service account and the GPR Server v5 COM+ application both have Full Control permissions on the log file folder on the GPA Server computer. By default, GPA writes log files to the Documents and Settings\All Users\NetIQ\GPA\Logs\Server folder.
