You cannot have duplicate Exchange aliases in the same Exchange Organization, so DRA does not keep the Exchange alias of the template account.

If you attempt to manually modify the Exchange alias to be the same as the template account, DRA will generate a new alias automatically by appending a number to the end of the new alias.
