Error:  'An unhandled exception has occurred.'

symptom
Error:  'Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.  Parameter name: newAddress.'

cause

This is a known issue with DRA. If you specify a static IP address with a value of 101 or greater for remote access on the Dial-in tab on the User Properties window, DRA displays an error message similar to the one below when you try to set or view remote access information for a user account:

The time is 27/03/2006 02:47:49 p.m..
The computer is ComputerName.
The user is DomainName\UserName.
The command line is "C:\Program Files\NetIQ\DRA\AdminConsole.exe" .
The log file is 'C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Application Data\NetIQ\DRA\Logs\Console\AdminConsole.nq1'.
The exception type is System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException.

"Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.
Parameter name: newAddress"

fix

This issue is addressed in NetIQ Directory and Resource Administrator and Exchange Administrator version 7.5 Hotfix 52782.

Hotfix 52782 corrects an issue with how Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) handles static IP addresses with values of 101 or greater when specifying static IP addresses for remote access on the Dial-in tab on the User Properties window. When you specify static IP addresses for remote access, DRA accepts static IP addresses containing values greater than 101. However, if you specify a static IP address with a value of 101 or greater, DRA displays an error message the next time you access the Dial-in tab on the User Properties window. This hotfix corrects this issue and ensures DRA correctly handles static IP address values greater than 101 when specifying static IP addresses for remote access.

Note: This hotfix requires DRA version 7.5.

To download and install this hotfix:

  1. Close all DRA user interfaces.
  2. Run the DRA75000_Hotfix52782.msi file on each computer where you installed the DRA Delegation and Configuration console or DRA Account and Resource Management console.

Hotfix 52782 modifies the NetIQ.DRA.Console.Accounts.dll file on each computer where you installed the DRA Delegation and Configuration console or DRA Account and Resource Management console. By default, this file is located in the Program Files\NetIQ\DRA folder.
