Resolution

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.5

symptom
When you direct output to a text file using the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) command-line interface (CLI), the DRA CLI adds an extra carriage return (CR) to the end of each output line.

symptom
Output text files created with the DRA CLI end with the three character sequence CR CR LF.

symptom
Before you can use the DRA CLI output you have to remove an extra CR at the end of each line.

cause
This is a known issue with DRA. When you use the DRA CLI and direct the output to a text file, the DRA CLI adds an extra carriage return to the end of each output line. Other non-DRA CLI applications typically do not include this extra carriage return.

fix

This issue is addressed in NetIQ Directory and Resource Administrator and Exchange Administrator version 7.5 Hotfix 52776.

Hotfix 52776 corrects an issue with how the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) command-line interface (CLI) formats and directs the output of CLI commands to text files. When you use a CLI command and direct the output to a text file, each output line in the text file ends with the CR CR LF sequence. This hotfix corrects this issue by providing a new option, /NOCR, which removes the extra CR character when you direct the output of a CLI command to a text file.

Notes:

  • This hotfix requires DRA version 7.5.
  • If you use the /UNICODE option, type the /NOCR option before the /UNICODE option. For example, if you use the USER command and want to direct the output to the temp.txt file, use the following syntax:

EA /DOMAIN:acct04 /MASTER /NOCR /UNICODE USER DISPLAY > temp.txt, where acct04 is the domain name.

To download and install this hotfix:

  1. Close all DRA user interfaces.
  2. Run the DRA75000_Hotfix52776.msi file on each Administration server and on each computer where you installed the Account and Resource Management console or Delegation and Configuration console.

Hotfix 52776 modifies the EA.exe file on each computer where you installed the Administration server and on each computer where you installed the Account and Resource Management console or Delegation and Configuration console. By default, this file is located in the Program Files\NetIQ\DRA folder.
