Environment

NetIQ Group Policy Administrator 5.0

Situation

Error: "MMC has detected an error in a snap-in. It is recommended that you shut down and restart MMC" when launching the GPA console.
When launching the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), the MMC does not display the Repository node after receiving an MMC snap-in error.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install Service Pack 1 for GPA 5.0 available on the NetIQ Support website at:  https://www.netiq.com/support/gpa/

Cause

The MMC on the Group Policy Administrator (GPA) console computer has been upgraded to version 3.0. GPA 5.0 does not support MMC version 3.0.
