Environment

NetIQ AppManager 6.x
NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x

Situation

AppManager agent installation cannot create a local repository.
Error: 'Autonomous operation requires access to a local repository and will not be available on this computer.'

Resolution

To resolve the problem:

  1. Back up the system registry of the target computer.
  2. Verify that the account logged in on the system where the Agent is being installed has full permissions to the following registry hive:

    HKLM | software | odbc | odbc.ini | Local Repository

  3. Verify that no AD Policies over-ride the account's permissions on this system.
  4. If the account does not have full permissions to this key, give the account permissions and retry the AppManager Agent installation.
  5. If the account has full permissions or if the AppManager Agent installation fails after you retry, delete the following registry hive:

     HKLM | software | odbc | odbc.ini | Local Repository

  6. Retry the AppManager Agent installation.
  7. If the AppManager Agent installation fails after you retry, replace the following hive with a copy from a functional AppManager Agent system with identical OS and Service Pack level as the target system:

    HKLM | software | odbc | odbc.ini | Local Repository

  8. Retry the AppManager Agent installation.
  9. If the AppManager Agent installation fails after you retry, contact NetIQ Technical Support for additional assistance with this issue and reference this article.

Cause

The account running the AppManager installation cannot access the system's registry either because the account has improper security permissions or because the key is corrupted and cannot be modified.
