symptom
Event Down Action is not generated when the Knowledge Script generates a State Change Event.

symptom
Jobs configured with the 'Generate a new event when original event condition no longer exists' option do not trigger the Action associated with Event Down on Unix computers.

cause
Performance issues have been connected with the current code of the libNqUA file. NetIQ Technical Support has resolved this issue with the release of Hotfix 52116. 

fix

To resolve this issue:

  1. Download the AM602_Hotfix52116.zip file from https://download.netiq.com/KnowledgeDepot/AM/Hotfixes/Recommended/AM602_Hotfix52116.zip
  2. Copy AM602_Hotfix52116.tar file from the folder, to your Unix computer. 
  3. Log on to your Unix computer with root privileges.
  4. In the directory where you copied the .tar file, enter the following command:
    • tar -xvf AM602_Hotfix52116.tar
    • This unpacks the files AM602_Hotfix52116.sh, AM602_Readme52116.txt, and folders for HP-UX (with libNqUA.sl, libNqClassLib.sl, libNqMoUtil.sl, libNqSecCom.sl,and libperfcnt.sl), Linux (with libNqUA.so, libNqClassLib.so, libNqMoUtil.so, libNqSecCom.so, and libperfcnt.so), and SunOS (with libNqUA.so, libNqClassLib.so, libNqMoUtil.so, libNqSecCom.so, libperfcnt.so) into the current directory.
  5. Run the shell script, AM602_Hotfix52116.sh, to apply the hotfix.
    Note: When running the AM602_Hotfix52116.sh script, it recognizes the operating system in use and copies the corresponding libNqUA file.

This hotfix updates the existing libNqUA file to resolve a performance issue related to event-down action.

note
For customers running IBM AIX ensure that AM602_Unix_65_AIX_ServicePack_1 (https://www.netiq.com/support/am/extended/servicepacks/default.asp?version=Unix) is applied to the AIX machines prior to deploying Hotfix 52116.  Without doing so the AppManager Agent will fail to start and may generate core dumps.
