Situation
NetIQ Knowledge Base 2.0 installation fails.
Cannot render ASP pages.
KnowledgeBaseInstallation.log reports a 404 error.
Error: 'Page cannot be displayed.'

Resolution
To test the ASP.NET installation:
- In C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ create an empty text file named test.aspx.
- In the URL field in Internet Explorer, enter http://localhost/test.aspx
- If Internet Explorer cannot find the page, ASP.NET is not installed or is disabled.
- If you are running Windows 2000, reinstall the .Net Framework.
- If you are running Windows 2003, verify ASP.NET:
a. In Control Panel, click Add\Remove Programs.
b. Select Windows Components.
c. Under Application Server, verify that ASP.NET is installed.
d. Select ASP.NET and click OK.
e. Click Details for Internet Information Services (IIS) > World Wide Web Service.
f. Select Active Server Pages and click OK.
g. Reboot if required.
Cause
ASP.NET is required to render pages in Knowledge Base 2.0. If ASP.NET is not installed or is disabled, KB 2.0 will not be able to install properly.
